Division Overview

The Finance function is responsible for all the financial reporting, controls and analysis across the Clarksons Group, supporting a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Role Summary

As a Junior Data Finance Analyst, you will work within the Finance function of the global broking segment focusing on supporting the continued growth of the broking business through revenue analytics and commercial performance. The person in role will work in a team dealing directly with many aspects of the business, gaining exposure to the commercial side of the shipping industry and dealing with stakeholders across the business including brokers, legal and compliance, data engineers and application developers. As the role inevitably grows, there will be a pathway towards a Revenue Analyst/Senior Analyst with help through mentorship and development from the Head of Revenue.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work directly with the head of revenue on ad hoc commercial analysis.
  • Take ownership of part of the revenue controls framework.
  • Assist in the preparation of management information, KPI reports.
  • Provide financial information, insight, and analysis to management to enable timely and effective decision making.
  • Ad hoc reporting on all elements of shipbroking deals to assist team management with performance, client tenders and divisional strategy.
  • Liaise with the data science team to extract data from bespoke database, as well as create real-time reports.
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards in PowerBI creating useful commercial financial insights to the business.
  • Analyse, identify and support continuous changes and improvements to broking data.
  • Contribute to key projects and new initiatives.
  • Support other administrative functions including tax, compliance and legal with financial analysis of the broking segment.
  • Daily support to users of broking finance systems.
  • Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

  • Able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Good IT skills in MS office packages (at least intermediate level in use of excel) is essential.
  • Knowledge of PowerBI would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Knowledge of SQL would be an advantage but not essential.
