We are seeking a highly experienced Quality and Commissioning Engineer with a strong practical background in cable or substation fitting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has a meticulous eye for detail, and is confident in leading the final stages of project delivery, including snagging and commissioning. Ideally the client is looking for someone really experienced, with over 10 years experience. Key Responsibilities • Quality Assurance & Control • Conduct detailed inspections of electrical installations (cables, substations, etc.) to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. • Identify and document defects, non-conformances, and areas for improvement. • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality reports. • Snagging & Handover • Lead the creation of comprehensive snag lists prior to project handover. • Coordinate with site teams and contractors to ensure timely resolution of snags. • Support client walkdowns and ensure all quality-related issues are addressed before final acceptance. • Commissioning • Plan and execute commissioning activities for electrical systems, including HV/LV equipment, protection systems, and control panels. • Perform functional testing, fault finding, and system validation. • Collaborate with clients and project teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to operational phase. • Collaboration & Reporting • Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and client representatives. • Provide clear and concise reporting on quality and commissioning progress. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned. Required Skills & Experience • Proven experience as a cable or substation fitter with a strong understanding of electrical installation practices. • Demonstrated ability to produce detailed snag lists and manage defect resolution. • Hands-on commissioning experience, ideally in HV/LV systems. • Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.g., BS, IEC) and health & safety regulations. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Desirable Qualifications • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Engineering. • COMPEX, ECS/CSCS, or similar site certifications. • Experience with SCADA, protection relays, or control systems is a plus
