We are working with an esteemed client who is looking for multiple General Foremen to come on board for projects in the North of Scotland. The client has projects all over Scotland so location is not an issue, but the candidate must be willing to work away from home. Projects are solely within the energy sector, so experience and/or tickets in this field is very beneficial. Candidates also need to have civil engineering experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing HSQE onsite in conjunction with the Site Management team. Ensuring sites are compliant with company HSQE policy and procedure, driving a strong Health, Safety and quality focus culture while utilizing our electronic record keeping systems.
- Proactively managing the operations on site.
- Building and maintaining effective client relationships.
- Building and maintaining high performing teams that will involve directly employed colleagues as well as subcontractors.
- Carrying out site inspections, accurately recording details and following through with any actions.
- Keeping contemporaneous records of project costs within your control.
- Accountable for the management and site supervision of site teams on civils and renewable projects throughout Scotland.
- Undertaking weekly site safety audits and producing a daily diary of site activities.
- Ensuring that materials and plant have been procured, delivered and labour has been planned in accordance with the construction programme.
- Building and maintaining close relationships with the wider site team, to identify cost savings and efficiencies.
- Accountable for a high standard of site H&S paperwork.
- A focus on continued improvement in all HSQE areas.
- Ensuring all site returns are recorded and reported into the management team in a timely manner, as required.
- Manage subcontract packages of work and ensure sub-contractor construction programmes are adhered to, identifying and reporting areas of concern/delay.
Enablers to the role
- Experience of working in the civils industry, particularly infrastructure projects.
- Experience in managing work fronts in local communities to ensure a positive approach to dealing with members of the public.
- Excellent experience in understanding of project commercial positions and in achieving programme targets, highlighting any shortfalls to the Project Manager.
- NRSWA certification, preferred but not essential.
- TWS certification, preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with colleagues, clients and sub-contractors.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in successfully managing teams.
- Confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Good PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work weekends, shift work and work away from home.
