We are currently supporting the early-stage development of a Substation project located in Dundee. The overall client is SSE, with our client subcontracted to deliver a significant package of civil engineering works. The project has an anticipated duration of approximately 30 months and offers an excellent long-term opportunity within the power and infrastructure sector.

We are seeking a Sub Agent to support the pre-construction planning and subsequent delivery of major civil engineering works associated with the substation development. The successful candidate will play a key role in both the early planning stages and construction delivery, helping ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.

The project will involve:

  • Bulk earthworks
  • Construction of a control building
  • Concrete works
  • Ducting
  • Drainage works

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with pre-construction planning and project mobilisation
  • Supporting the management of day-to-day site operations
  • Coordinating subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with programme requirements
  • Supporting quality assurance and technical compliance
  • Liaising with project management, engineering, and commercial teams
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Supporting reporting, progress tracking, and site documentation

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Sub Agent within civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of earthworks and highway specifications preferred
  • Experience delivering control buildings or similar infrastructure projects advantageous
  • Previous experience working on SSE or Scottish Power projects beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a project delivery team
  • Civil Engineering Background

Candidates based within approximately one hour of site are preferred (i.e Perth, Stirling, Fife). Permanent position only. Market-leading salary/package depending on experience. Planned onboarding during July/August for pre-construction involvement. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major substation infrastructure project from the early planning stages through to delivery, working with established contractors on a long-term SSE development.
