Overview: We are looking for a proactive and experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of residential groundworks and utility infrastructure projects. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of multiple sites, with a particular emphasis on groundworks for new housing developments. You will be responsible for managing project teams, maintaining client relationships, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and delivering works to time, quality, and budget expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the delivery of groundworks packages including foundations, drainage, road construction, and external works for residential developments.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Attend and contribute to site and client meetings to ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and company policies.
- Act as the key point of contact for clients, site teams, and subcontractors.
- Review client-issued design changes and coordinate timely responses and implementation.
- Oversee the agreement and management of contract variations and valuations.
- Coordinate and allocate labour, plant, and materials efficiently across active sites.
- Work closely with other Contracts Managers to optimise shared resources and improve delivery across the business.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions as required.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and quality on all projects.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- CSCS Card (Managerial level preferred).
- NRSWA Supervisor certification.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- First Aid qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong team leadership and organisational skills.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within civil engineering, specifically in residential groundworks.
- Confident decision-maker with a practical, solution-driven mindset.
- Proven track record of delivering multiple residential groundwork packages on time and within budget.
