Electrical Estimator/Trainee Up to £30,000 Gloucester Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. We partner with the UK\’s leading housing developers and were delighted to be crowned Subcontractor of the Year at the 2023 Housebuilder Awards. We\’re looking to expand our busy Commercial Department with new positions that will help us secure additional work and maintain strong relationships with our customers – the UK\’s leading house builders. The Role: Join us as an experienced electrician or Estimator, or at trainee level if you\’re new to the sector and would like to start a structured career path in electrical and PV Estimating that may lead to management. Joining a department of 30, you\’ll work alongside other Estimators and support the Estimating Manager you report to by completing and following up site tenders for both electrical and PV. Each of our Estimators have dedicated customer accounts, gaining a full understanding of their requirements and ensuring that our service is truly customer-focused, despite our national scale. We\’re focused on increasing turnover with both new and existing customers and because we operate in a highly competitive market where margins are tight, carefully considered, accurate pricing is a must, along with top-notch customer service. To provide a customer experience we are very proud of, everyone in the team works in a close-knit unit and we\’re constantly aware that providing a great service externally starts with providing a great service internally to our site-based teams. They will rely on you to use your keen eye for detail to translate winning tenders into accurate information for getting the job done. It\’s a fast-paced environment with a culture to rival the positive team-working you\’d expect to see on any well-run building site. Working hours are shorter than you might find on site though (39 hours a week, including an early finish on Fridays and no weekend working). There\’s also usually no shortage of cakes in the team kitchen or opportunities to socialise out of hours. A strong focus on internal progression means a passion to build a long-term career in the department is essential. Responsibilities Gathering information to produce competitive tenders in response to customer specifications Creating kit picklists based on technical drawings to ensure we issue the correct parts to our electrical teams Representing the company during customer site visits to hold pre-start meetings, site handovers and to discuss job progress Responding to telephone and email enquiries from customers\’ surveyors, ensuring we are always exceeding their expectations and providing a timely, responsive service Required Skills and Attributes Opportunities are available at trainee level or for experienced electricians or Estimators. Trainees need not have construction industry experience but electrical qualifications would certainly be an advantage. Customer-service focused, determined to be responsive and impress at every opportunity Strong organisation and administration skills A genuine eye for detail, checking own work and ensuring accuracy Strong written and verbal communications skills Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel A hunger to learn on-the-job and build a long-term career with us.
