The Role
As a Solar PV CAD Designer, you'll play an essential role within our Solar PV design team. With demand for solar installations continuing to increase rapidly, and the UK target of net zero carbon by 2050, this role is to support our design team, ensuring our installers and clients have access to accurate Solar designs. There is scope for progression and the opportunity to utilise Solar and AutoCAD experience.
Responsibilities
- Design solar PV and battery storage systems for residential properties and social housing schemes using primarily AutoCAD.
- Create detailed site plans indicating Solar PV locations.
- Analyse SAP calculations provided by clients and carry out feasibility studies for various PV schemes.
- Prepare full technical documentation (PV layouts, electrical schematics and design reports).
- Liaise with our installation team and PV project managers to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
- Stay updated on current regulations, new technologies, and design best practices in solar.
- Provide technical and design support to our commercial team.
- Assisting with ad-hoc administrative tasks.
- Understanding and interpreting clients' expectations.
Requirements
- AutoCAD experience essential.
- Proven experience in Solar PV design (residential or commercial) is desirable.
- Van Der Valk Pro, SmartDesign software, K2 Base and PVSol knowledge would be advantageous.
- Strong and professional communication skills and ability to collaborate working with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to manage deadlines for multiple live projects.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, office-based environment.
- Strong IT skills (including Excel).
- Attention to detail and accuracy, even when working under pressure.
