Lead the Group management accounting processes and oversee Group balance sheet controls in accordance with IFRS. Support the global alignment of overhead cost reporting across the Group and drive month-end close process improvements. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement process changes. Oversee the month-end close timetable and ensure compliance across the Group.
People: 4 direct reports (Manager Overhead, KL South East Asia Manager, System Analyst, Reporting Accountant) and overall accountability for a team of 11 across UK (4) and Malaysia (7). Significant impact on accuracy and compliance of management accounting processes and alignment of revenue and cost reporting across the Group. Visibility on cost timing through controls over the Group balance sheet.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the delivery of accounting processes to ensure SAP-based accounting records for overhead costs and revenue are maintained completely, accurately and in line with accounting standards and group accounting policies.
- Support the global alignment of cost reporting across all territories to facilitate like-for-like comparisons and improve cost control for the business.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to implement changes.
- Work with Finance colleagues and relevant business areas to ensure consistency of revenue reporting across all territories to facilitate like-for-like comparisons.
- Ensure effective communication and accurate capture across all levels of reporting, including the monthly board pack.
- Produce and deliver analysis with explanation of financial transactions to aid understanding of the financial position during month-end close.
- Manage the Group ownership report process, including review of all balance sheet items.
- Ensure compliance across global teams and drive process improvement.
- Maintain a robust controls environment for agreed record-to-report accounting processes to ensure delivery in line with group policy, including accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and monitor accounting records and entries to ensure correct legal entity treatment.
- Liaise with the Financial Accounting team on local GAAP accounting and audits.
- Review and monitor foreign currency accounting to ensure compliance with group policy and correct exchange rate usage.
Qualifications:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with substantial relevant post-qualification accounting experience.
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders and a proven record of effective communication with management.
- Experience of managing a small-to-medium-sized team, with strong coaching and development capability.
- Experience of communicating and working within an SSC environment and in a global business is a plus.
- Ability to produce management accounts as subject matter expert for required areas and withstand scrutiny from external auditors.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to day-to-day issues.
- Strong knowledge of finance structures, both commercially and from a legal/statutory perspective.
- Sound judgement in accounting situations and questions.
- High standards of accuracy and precision; well-organised with strong problem-solving skills.
