Fully accountable for coaching, mentoring and leading a team of DC operatives, enabling them to achieve KPIs and commercial targets within a safe culture-led working environment.
Work Schedule: Friday 1:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am to 9:00pm, Monday 1:00pm to 9:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Regularly review own performance and maintain a personal development plan, including a compulsory Academy Level 3 qualification.
- Manage all Employee Relations issues fairly in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures in a timely manner, engaging with Union when applicable.
- Investigate and hold disciplinary hearings if necessary.
- Drive the implementation and delivery of new initiatives through Six Sigma to achieve the objectives set within the DC. All Team Managers require a minimum yellow belt qualification.
- Ensure all Health and Safety training, checks and record keeping are completed on time and accurately, to ensure compliance with Company Policies and relevant legislation.
- Leadership experience including managing direct and indirect reports, coaching, giving feedback and developing team members.
- Communicate effectively with other managers within the DC and develop a network of contacts outside Westway to further understanding of the end-to-end business processes.
- Deputise for the Shift Manager when requested or cover other shifts as required.
- All Team Managers are trained and take personal ownership ensuring they are rotated throughout the year to work in all areas of the DC (rotation will be a minimum of twice yearly).
- Daily KPIs and staffing levels are accurately managed and monitored for improvement.
- Maintain a highly motivated, engaged and productive team using effective coaching and mentoring tools and skills.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with documented development plans highlighting any future aspirations.
- Ensure appropriate and effective communication occurs within the team and everyone is well informed.
- Maintain a safe working environment that is continually reviewed.
- Ensure all DC operatives within the team understand and adhere to Health and Safety Compliance Policies and Procedures.
- Be fully competent in carrying out incident investigations.
- Successfully integrate new starters and agency colleagues.
- Full accountability, management, tracking and adherence of Attendance and Annual Leave for the team, ensuring correct payments are given to the operatives.
- Handle sickness absences appropriately with full preparation with the aid of HR and Occupational Health.
- Provide support to the Shift Manager to ensure the operation and teams deliver as one team.
- Demonstrate role model and leadership behaviours in all activities, living the Clarks values, purpose and operating model.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Apprenticeship
- IOSH trained or equivalent
- Fully competent with Health & Safety processes and procedures
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt
- Experience managing and leading a team of 20+ people
- Knowledge of DC processes and procedures
- Experience in managing & improving performance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience in managing budgets, training and recruitment
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Previous experience of managing a highly engaged, motivated and productive team
- Significant leadership experience including managing direct and indirect reports, coaching and giving feedback and developing team members
- Experience working within a Unionised environment
- Knowledge and experience in using the HighJump system
- IT proficient and able to use a range of systems, including Excel and Microsoft packages
