We have an exciting opportunity for a junior Solicitor (ideally NQ - 3 PQE) to join our highly regarded construction team. We are looking to bring someone in who has a passion for contentious work but also offer the opportunity to get involved in some non-contentious work, if desired.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

  • Getting involved in high quality, complex adjudication and litigation (including Protocol) work.
  • Providing strategic advice and flexible dispute resolution solutions for clients, including through mediation, within a supportive and friendly team.
  • Having an interest in providing positive solutions to our clients, which include national developers and contractors, well-known housebuilders and major housing associations in the social housing sector.

Our approach is simple – we understand our clients’ needs and objectives and provide solutions in a commercially focussed and pragmatic way.

We want to invest in your career and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right. You will have plenty of one-to-one development and encouragement from the wider national team. We will ensure that you get a good level of client contact and responsibility. We will also actively encourage you to be involved in business development and will give you opportunities to participate in networking and marketing activities.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures; and we have strong systems to achieve time and cost efficiencies for clients.

The role is right for you if:

  • You are looking for someone with talent, ambition and a real interest in contentious construction work.
  • You may be a newly qualified lawyer or have built up a number of years of experience already and ready to take the next step in your career.
  • You will have built up enough experience to be able to manage your workload with ‘light touch’ supervision, ideally in a specialist construction team (or having done a construction training seat).

We value hard working team players, but equally value and promote a positive culture with a strong work-life balance. Yes, there are deadlines to meet, but we do not believe that long hours are healthy or produce great client service. We look for well-rounded teams and individuals, as do our clients.

Who we are:

You’ll be joining a national law firm that enjoys a strong reputation, made possible by our exceptional people – each chosen for their industry knowledge and passion for their field. We want to help you to reach your full potential, love the work you do and deliver the best results for your clients. It’s our goal to make you feel great about working with us, and we work hard to cultivate a culture that makes it easy for you to stay with us for many years.

We work flexibly and you’ll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service.

What we can offer you:

A career at Clarke Willmott will feel different to other law firms. We thrive on our individual differences and diversity because as a team, we are united by our shared values and mutual respect. Working with us you will feel empowered, valued and free to be yourself in a safe and supportive environment.

Our mission is to help you realise your full potential whilst maintaining a positive work-life balance. We provide a comprehensive learning and development programme and a range of wellbeing initiatives to support your career journey.

There’s no doubt we expect the best from our people and even the occasional extra mile. In return, your dedication and commitment to the continued success of the firm will be rewarded with a comprehensive range of flexible benefits.
