An exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Housing Management team in Birmingham or Manchester. Our Housing Management team has seen significant growth in the last 10 years and is one of the firm's fastest growing teams, acting for Registered Providers and Local Authorities. The team is also recognised in Legal 500 & Chambers directory rankings and has done for a number of years. We continue to be appointed to some of the largest national and regional frameworks.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
- Supporting a team of experienced lawyers gaining experience in a variety of interesting work.
- Assisting with a range of general administration tasks to keep the team organised.
- Gaining experience and understanding of client work and developing your skills as a lawyer.
- Working under supervision and guidance, taking responsibility for progressing transactions such as:
- Assisting in housing condition claims brought by tenants;
- Liaising with colleagues, clients, courts and opposing representatives;
- Assisting in drafting pleadings and witness statements in support of applications brought in the County Court.
You will soon become an integral part of this highly regarded team, playing a key part in delivering an excellent level of service to our clients and building your legal career accordingly. It is an integral part of this role that you comply with data security and all firm policies and procedures.
The role is right for you if:
- You are a law/GDL graduate or equivalent with a keen interest in law.
- If you have already completed the LPC, this will be of great benefit but is not essential.
- Previous paralegal experience would be desirable particularly in respect of housing condition claims.
- What is most important is your attitude; you will need to show us that you are hard‑working, with initiative, drive and great organisational skills.
- On‑the‑job training and guidance will be provided to enable you to succeed in this role.
- You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, being able to adapt your style to communicate effectively with a wide range of professional people and other stakeholders.
- This is a busy role within a litigation team, with deadlines to manage and competing priorities, so you will be required to work quickly, accurately and efficiently and remain calm under pressure.
- We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first‑class support service to your colleagues and our clients, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
