We are looking to appoint an ambitious partner to support our growing corporate team. Operating with significant autonomy, you will build a practice focused on the Manchester market to complement our national corporate team. Supporting a senior corporate partner in Manchester and supported on the ground by an existing corporate team and an established office, you will be keen to play a full part in the growth of our Manchester offering and our national plans.

Whilst we expect you to have excellent client-handling and business development skills, a client following is not a pre-requisite for this role. The precise nature of the role will depend on your own background, client relationships and sector expertise. We will look to build on your strengths and interests and support you in developing your reputation and practice.

You will have access to plenty of support from specialists across the firm, including corporate partners, solicitors and associates, as well as specialist teams in tax; banking; commercial, IP, real estate and employment. You will also enjoy the support of our vastly experienced knowledge and business development teams. You will be part of a firm-wide corporate team which acts for a wide mix of national and international clients. Our work spans M&A, equity funding, joint ventures, corporate finance and general corporate structuring work.

The role is right for you if you are:

  • A Senior Associate or Legal Director ready to make a step up to a partner role, or an existing partner looking for a fresh challenge.
  • Already working in Manchester or surrounds or relocating / willing to relocate to Manchester.
  • An experienced fee earner requiring minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable running transactions and supervising less qualified fee earners and support staff.
  • A solicitor with at least 6 years solid corporate experience.
  • You will have developed strong business development skills and have a vision about how to grow your practice.
  • While you will relish responsibility and autonomy, you will also be a team player.

We are a supportive and collegiate partnership and expect a similar degree of collaboration from all our partners. It is part of what makes us a great place to work. A client following or business case is not an essential requirement for this role. As a result of internal promotions we have an existing book of clients and referrers which requires service.

You’ll be joining a national law firm that enjoys a strong reputation, made possible by our exceptional people – each chosen for their industry knowledge and passion for their field. We want to help you to reach your full potential, love the work you do and deliver the best results for your clients. It’s our goal to make you feel great about working with us, and we work hard to cultivate a culture that makes it easy for you to stay with us for many years.

We work flexibly and you’ll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service.

A career at Clarke Willmott will feel different to other law firms. We thrive on our individual differences and diversity because as a team, we are united by our shared values and mutual respect. Working with us you will feel empowered, valued and free to be yourself in a safe and supportive environment. Our mission is to help you realise your full potential whilst maintaining a positive work-life balance. We provide a comprehensive learning and development programme and a range of wellbeing initiatives to support your career journey. There’s no doubt we expect the best from our people and even the occasional extra mile. In return, your dedication and commitment to the continued success of the firm will be rewarded with a comprehensive range of flexible benefits.
