We have an exciting opportunity for a commercial property partner to join our national property division. We have long been recognised as a market leader in Real Estate; our national Real Estate team is one of the largest of its kind in the UK – with deep sector knowledge across the full range of commercial property matters. Our Real Estate teams rank highly in both Chambers and Legal 500.

We are looking for an ambitious commercial property partner to join us to undertake a broad range of the highest quality commercial property housebuilder work. Our multi-disciplinary, multi-office housebuilder sector encompasses all areas of law it takes to build a home, from land buying, planning and construction to site set up and plot conveyancing. We are regarded as leading legal advisers to the residential development sector, acting for three of the nation’s five largest housebuilder firms. The sector has specialist development lawyers located throughout England.

Our housebuilder team is led by Phil Thompson who previously worked as an in-house Legal Director at a national housebuilder. Phil specialises in the real estate aspects of property development for a number of national and regional residential development companies. We also have a bespoke SME housebuilder team led by Nicola Sutton that sits within this sector which offers dedicated support to our SME housebuilder clients, meaning we are well placed to anticipate the challenges that they face. Nicola advises developers, housebuilders and landowners in relation to a broad spectrum of residential development legal issues in the residential housebuilder market.

The role is right for you if:

  • We are ideally looking to appoint a partner with a following. If you do not have a following, then we are ideally looking for a partner who works for a firm that is panelled with at least one of our 3 main PLC clients.
  • You will have gravitas with your clients and show initiative, drive and be passionate about what you do.
  • You will be known, regarded and respected in the marketplace backed up by strong credentials.
  • You will also have strong year on year billing figures, and you will be able to evidence this as part of your business plan.
  • We want you to have strong and lasting relationships with clients, as this is something that we pride ourselves on.
  • With at least 10 years of post-qualification experience, you will have established strong client relationships with a following. We will however consider applicants with less qualification experience but who can demonstrate the qualities we are looking for.
  • Leading and being actively involved in business development is a crucial part of being a partner and as such you will have developed strong business development skills coupled with a real vision of how to grow this part of our practice.
