Due to growth, we are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Commercial Litigation team in Birmingham. Our combined Bristol and Birmingham Commercial Litigation team is led by Partners Alex Jakubowski, Richard Moore, David Stedman and Damian Pitts who work alongside a Senior Associate, two Associates, three Solicitors, a trainee and a paralegal. Consistently ranked highly in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, our team have considerable experience in resolving disputes across a wide range of industries and sectors.

You will work with the entire team. However, you will be working closely with David Stedman to develop our presence in Birmingham and to grow our litigation team there. This is an opportunity for the right person to become a core member of a growing team.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

  • As a member of this motivated but highly collegiate team you will enjoy a wide variety of dispute resolution work.
  • The team handle claims including contract disputes, professional negligence, banking, intellectual property, defamation, fraud, procurement, partnership and shareholder disputes for a wide variety of commercial and corporate clients.
  • The range and quality of our caseload makes it an exceptional base to build a career in Commercial litigation.
  • You will have your own caseload across the range of our specialism and the opportunity to support Partners and Associates on more complex and large-scale claims.
  • Beyond your caseload, we’ll expect you to get involved in a range of business development activities and play a full part as a member of a supportive team.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

The role is right for you if:

  • You will ideally have between 4-8 years qualified experience within Commercial Litigation, although we are open to applications from outside of this with a particularly strong CV.
  • You should be proactive and flexible in working both individually and as part of a team and be able to prioritise a number of different projects effectively.
  • You will have strong commercial litigation experience.
  • Communication will be one of your strong points, both written and oral, and you will be enthusiastic about delivering excellent quality service to your clients.
  • We expect you to be able to use your initiative, and be a forward-planner, anticipating your clients’ needs in advance wherever possible.
  • We are looking for someone with very good academic achievement wishing to develop their career as a litigator and who also displays initiative, pragmatism, common sense and excellent client skills, who is looking to build a career and develop a reputation within this very strong, friendly and supportive team.
  • To be successful in the role you will be driven and ambitious with the ability to develop your existing experience in our highly regarded team.
