Role Description

The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and detailing designs for industrial and commercial pipework, steel fabrications, access platforms, and processing plant components.

On a day-to-day basis, this role will involve surveying, creating and updating CAD models and drawings, performing design calculations, supporting fabrication and installation teams, and ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and safety requirements.

The Design Engineer will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site personnel to resolve technical issues and optimise designs for manufacturability and maintenance.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Woolpit, requiring regular interaction with workshop and site operations to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Strong Design Engineering and Product Design skills, with experience translating project requirements into practical, detailed solutions.
  • Solid Mechanical Engineering knowledge, including an understanding of structures, pressure systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for 2D drawings and 3D modelling using Solidworks piping and routing and Plant3D
  • Previous experience in fabrication, welding environments, or industrial plant design, especially in food or chemical industries, is an advantage.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, work accurately to specifications, and adhere to safety and quality standards.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work on-site alongside multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e. g., degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience) in mechanical, design, or related engineering discipline.
