Are you looking for a stable driving role with consistent hours, realistic workloads and no weekend working?

We are recruiting a professional Assistant Night Manager to join our team at our Leigh depot in Greater Manchester .

THE ROLE

  • Monday to Friday only – no weekends
  • Approximate finish time: 23:30
  • Contracted hours: 48 hours per week
  • PAID WEEKLY EVERY THURSDAY

This is a stable and consistent position within a professionally managed depot.

  • KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the planning, organisation and control of depot operations, ensuring service levels, operational efficiency and budgetary control.
  • Assist with managing the traffic desk, vehicles, drivers and daily resource requirements.
  • Resolve escalated driver, transport and customer service issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor costs, identify waste and improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare accurate reports and spreadsheets for customers and internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with FORS, HSE, transport legislation and company procedures.
  • Monitor fleet maintenance and compliance, liaising with the Depot Manager and supervisory team.
  • Maintain high professional standards among drivers, deckworkers and operational staff.
  • Ensure effective communication and handover to the Night Manager, providing cover when required.
  • Promote teamwork, motivation, morale and a positive working environment.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the management team.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the supervision, coaching, mentoring and development of staff, including new starters.
  • Provide clear direction, set objectives and monitor team performance.
  • Identify and coordinate training and development requirements.
  • Manage complaints, workplace issues and attendance records, including timekeeping, sickness and annual leave.
  • Contribute to fair decisions regarding recognition, reward and promotion.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of personal and company information.
