Warehouse Operative / Storeman - Physical Role (Electrical & Mechanical Components)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hrs
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000

We are currently seeking a Storeman to support a large-scale, 3-year electrical upgrade project. This role involves the physical breakdown of pallets of stock, distribution to cages, and ensuring smooth operations for the storage and distribution of mechanical and electrical materials. It is a physically demanding role, with the site spread out across various areas—some locations require up to a 30-minute walk—so the ideal candidate must be comfortable with the physical demands of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Management: Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of mechanical/electrical parts, tools, and equipment.
- Stock Control: Ensure all materials and components are stored correctly and easily accessible, while maintaining accurate stock records and updating inventory systems.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with site managers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure timely availability of required materials.
- Stock Checks: Conduct regular stock checks and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all components meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Health & Safety: Comply with all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Waste Management: Coordinate the disposal or return of unused materials as necessary.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Storeman or in a similar role.
- Ability to manage stock control systems and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong awareness of health & safety regulations related to mechanical equipment and materials handling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic inventory systems.
- A strong team player who can work collaboratively in a medium-sized global organization.
- Able to work to deadlines under pressure and be flexible with overtime/travel if required.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Additional Requirements:
- Must hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
- Must have own transport.
- Must be able to pass and maintain Heathrow’s 5-year security background check.
