Our client is one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.
They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer to join the team in Sheffield to deliver on a multi-million-pound industrial manufacturing project with a high degree of technical complexity.
As the Senior Engineer you will lead and manage the site engineering team, quality assurance, technical compliance and temporary works engineering functions. The Senior Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the wider project team, stakeholders, external teams and supply chain partners to deliver on earthworks, piling, groundworks and drainage, structural steel, cladding and general construction packages.
- Management accountability for the site engineering function.
- Review technical drawings, specifications and other contract documents not limited to buildability, commercial viability and programme and ensure all are kept up to date.
- Ensure accurate setting out and dimensional control of the works within specified tolerances is achieved.
- Commission and manage any external surveys required.
- Prepare applications for permits and licences to statutory undertakers and Government agencies.
- Ensure all site activities are undertaken in compliance with the Company’s SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Oversee site personnel ensuring inductions, approved risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are in place.
- Define and develop the scope of the Temporary Works Consultant appointment.
- Define and develop the temporary works schemes that are required for the project.
- Implementation and compliance with the Company’s temporary works procedures.
- Ensure that the works comply with the requirements of the specification and drawings.
- Produce, approve and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), that are required to control the quality of the works, ensuring accurate and up to date records are maintained.
- Compile compliance reports that are required to assure the quality of the work.
- Management input into the works programme and site logistics.
- Monitor progress and report against the same.
- Ensure that the project programme is available and communicated regularly to relevant parties prior to work commencing.
- Chair, minute and circulate subcontractor progress meetings.
- Produce weekly and monthly progress reports where appropriate.
- Ensure accurate daily records are maintained and communicated.
- Communicate programme risks to the senior team and maintain records for contractual correspondence.
- Work with the Project Team to identify any change that may impact the works.
- Oversee a team of Site Engineers and hold responsibility for undertaking PDR’s and manage all training requirements for the Site Engineers.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree, HND or Equivalent.
- 5 years previous experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience in setting out large scale contracts.
- Valid driving licence.
- SMSTS training.
Desirable
- Previous experience working on large projects.
- Previous experience working on concrete structures such as slipform or jumpform.
- First aid training.
- Experience in use of Fieldview and 4P Viewpoint.
- Good IT Skills.
