Trusts Assistant Manager / Manager London

Trust Assistant Manager / Manager

Location: London. Salary: Β£55-75k + Benefits. Clark Wood – Tax Recruitment.

Clark Wood are currently working with a highly regarded and growing accountancy practice who are looking to recruit a Trust Assistant Manager / Manager to join their established Private Client team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Trust professional looking to take ownership of a high-quality portfolio while developing their exposure to more complex advisory work.

The successful individual will become a key member of the Trust team, primarily managing the accounting, administration and tax affairs of UK resident trusts. The work is varied and there will also be opportunities to gain exposure to non-UK resident trusts, estates and personal tax, depending on the individual's interests and experience.

Importantly, this isn't a purely compliance-focused position. You will work closely with senior members of the team on advisory projects covering areas including IHT planning, succession planning, wealth preservation and trust restructuring.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a mixed portfolio of UK resident trust clients
  • Preparation and review of trust accounts and self-assessment tax returns
  • Managing annual trust compliance requirements and associated deadlines
  • Supporting senior members of the team with complex Trust and Private Client advisory work
  • Preparing reports covering IHT planning, succession planning, wealth preservation and trust restructuring
  • Attending meetings with existing clients and prospective new clients
  • Liaising directly with clients, professional advisers and HMRC
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
  • Taking ownership of your portfolio and proactively identifying and resolving issues
  • Delegating work to junior members of the team and reviewing completed work
  • Supporting the training, mentoring and development of junior staff
  • Potential exposure to non-UK trusts, estates and personal tax work

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years' experience working within Trusts / Private Client Tax in an accountancy practice, legal practice or similarly professional environment.

You will ideally be ACA, CTA and/or STEP qualified, although individuals with strong relevant experience are also encouraged to enquire.

You should have good experience of trust accounting and tax compliance, alongside the confidence to manage client relationships and take ownership of a portfolio.

Previous exposure to high-net-worth individuals and families, family offices and/or landed estates would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Experience using CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax would also be beneficial, although training can be provided.

What's On Offer?

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to develop beyond straightforward trust compliance.

You’ll be joining a supportive and established team with access to high-quality clients and increasingly complex work, alongside genuine opportunities to develop your technical and advisory experience.

There is scope to become involved in areas including IHT and succession planning, trust restructuring, wealth preservation, estates, non-UK trusts and wider Private Client Tax, making this an excellent long-term opportunity for someone looking to broaden their expertise.

The firm offers a friendly and collaborative working environment, ongoing professional development and genuine scope for career progression.
