Clark Wood are currently working with a rapidly growing accountancy practice group who are looking to recruit an Accounts Semi Senior to join their expanding team in Paulton.

The successful candidate will join an experienced accounts team and take responsibility for preparing and assisting with a varied portfolio of client accounts.

The role will involve preparing statutory accounts for small companies, including dormant and non-complex entities, assisting with corporation tax returns, and supporting senior colleagues with more complex assignments.

In addition, you will gain exposure to bookkeeping using cloud-based systems such as Xero, assist with basic dividend planning, and support the wider tax and accounts teams with client reporting and information gathering.

This role offers excellent variety and the opportunity to develop both technical and commercial skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will be AAT Level 3/4 qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA, with strong experience in preparing company accounts within a practice environment.

Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage workload effectively will be essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparing statutory accounts for small companies, including dormant and non-complex entities
  • Drafting more complex small company accounts for review by senior team members
  • Preparing basic corporation tax returns
  • Assisting with bookkeeping using Xero and other cloud accounting systems
  • Maintaining and updating client financial records following accounts preparation
  • Preparing basic dividend planning calculations with guidance
  • Drafting partnership and non-resident company tax returns for review
  • Assisting with VAT and payroll-related queries where required
  • Supporting senior team members with client reporting and information requests
  • Liaising with UK and international tax teams on client matters
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines

Skills

  • AAT Level 3/4 qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified
  • Previous experience preparing company accounts within practice
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounts preparation
  • Knowledge of corporation tax returns would be advantageous
  • Experience with Xero or similar accounting software desirable
  • Strong Excel and IT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively
  • Flexible, proactive and team-oriented approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
