A highly regarded and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Audit Manager to join its expanding Audit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified audit professional looking to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, lead high-performing audit teams and work closely with Partners within an ambitious and forward-thinking firm.

The Role
As Audit Manager, you will take overall responsibility for a varied portfolio of audit clients, acting as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact.
You will oversee audit engagements from initial planning through to completion and RI review, while managing teams, budgets, client relationships and the commercial performance of your portfolio.
Responsibilities will include
- Managing a diverse portfolio of audit clients
- Acting as the primary point of contact and trusted adviser to clients
- Planning and overseeing audit assignments from initial planning through to completion
- Managing engagements through to RI review
- Reviewing complex and technically challenging areas of audit work
- Resolving technical audit matters and providing guidance to the wider team
- Managing audit budgets, timelines, resources and profitability
- Monitoring workflow and team capacity to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Managing billing, fee recovery and changes in assignment scope
- Leading audit planning, review and completion meetings
- Providing proactive commercial advice and insights to clients
- Ensuring assignments meet professional, regulatory and internal quality standards
- Maintaining AML, KYC and engagement documentation requirements
- Working closely with Partners and senior leadership
- Identifying opportunities to introduce clients to other specialist services
- Developing expertise within specialist sectors and technical areas
- Leadership & Team Development
A significant part of this position will involve leading and developing the wider Audit team.
You will
- Lead, coach and mentor Audit Assistant Managers, Seniors and junior team members
- Set clear expectations and objectives across assignments
- Provide regular feedback and support professional development
- Monitor individual and team performance
- Support colleagues with their career progression
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding
- Help create a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Business Development
At Manager level, you will also have the opportunity to become increasingly involved in the commercial development of the Audit practice.
This could include
- Developing your professional network
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships
- Supporting the winning of new business
- Attending networking and industry events
- Participating in webinars and presentations
- Contributing to technical articles and thought leadership
- Working alongside Partners on the continued growth of the Audit service line
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified with strong audit and portfolio management experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
You will ideally have
- ACA or ACCA qualification
- Significant external audit experience
- Previous audit portfolio management experience
- Experience managing assignments from planning through to completion
- Strong technical audit and accounting knowledge
- Experience reviewing complex audit work
- Proven experience managing and developing audit teams
- Confidence leading client meetings
- Strong commercial and client relationship skills
- Experience managing budgets, billing and workflow
