Clark Wood is working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Harrogate. The firm provides a full range of audit, accounting, and advisory services to a diverse client base across Yorkshire and beyond, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and larger corporate entities. They are now seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts & Audit Manager to join their team. This is a key leadership position, offering responsibility for managing a varied client portfolio, overseeing audit and accounts assignments, and supporting the development of junior staff. The role offers an excellent balance of technical work, client interaction, and team leadership, along with clear opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit & Accounts
    • Manage and deliver audit assignments from planning through to completion
    • Review statutory accounts prepared under UK GAAP (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
    • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines
    • Identify and communicate audit findings and recommendations
  • Client Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
    • Provide proactive business and financial advice
    • Attend and lead client meetings, presenting findings clearly and professionally
  • Compliance & Technical
    • Ensure compliance with UK auditing and accounting standards
    • Stay up to date with relevant legislation and best practice
    • Support partners with technical queries and more complex assignments

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 4–6 years’ experience within practice
  • Strong background in both audit and accounts
  • Proven experience managing a client portfolio
