Clark Wood is working with an established and growing independent firm of accountants based in Exmouth, serving a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SMEs across Devon and the South West. Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to take responsibility for managing a portfolio of OMB and SME clients, overseeing accounts preparation and compliance, and supporting junior team members. This is a key client-facing role with clear progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of OMB and SME clients across a range of sectors
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Review of management accounts and VAT returns
- Corporation tax compliance and liaison with tax colleagues where required
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing day-to-day advice and support
- Planning and managing workflow to meet deadlines
- Reviewing work of junior staff and providing training and mentoring
- Assisting partners with client meetings and business development where appropriate
Candidate Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified
- Strong background in practice, ideally within an independent or regional firm
- Experience managing a varied SME/OMB client portfolio
