Clark Wood is currently working with a forward‑thinking firm of accountants that is looking to appoint an Accounts Manager to support the financial and advisory needs of clients across the bloodstock, equine and racing industries. This is a specialist role combining strong technical accountancy expertise with an interest in the equine world. You will manage a varied portfolio of clients including stud farms, racing yards, syndicates and rural businesses, delivering high‑quality financial reporting and practical commercial advice.

The Role:

  • Manage a portfolio of accountancy clients across the bloodstock, racing and wider equine sectors.
  • Prepare and review year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
  • Attend client meetings, often on‑site at stud farms, training yards and related businesses, providing tailored financial advice.
  • Prepare and review VAT returns, tax computations and advisory schedules, including agricultural and equine tax planning.
  • Oversee and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and supporting their development.
  • Build strong long‑term client relationships and deliver high‑quality service and commercial insight.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Proven experience working in accountancy practice.
  • Experience with rural, agricultural or equine clients is highly desirable, or a strong interest in developing expertise in this sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, tax and client advisory.
  • Confident communicator with excellent relationship‑building skills.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple client deadlines.
