A leading London accountancy and advisory firm is looking to appoint a Corporate Tax Manager to join its growing specialist Property Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Corporate Tax professional looking to develop or further specialise within the property and real estate sector, working with an impressive portfolio including owner-managed businesses, property investment and development groups and real estate funds.
The position offers a genuine combination of Corporate Tax compliance and advisory work, alongside significant client responsibility and the opportunity to manage and develop junior members of the team. You’ll work closely with senior tax specialists on complex property transactions, restructuring, acquisitions, disposals and group tax planning, making this particularly attractive for someone looking for broader advisory exposure at Manager level.
The Role
- You will manage the Corporation Tax requirements of a varied portfolio of property and real estate clients, including standalone companies and complex corporate groups.
- Alongside overseeing the compliance portfolio, you'll become involved in a broad range of property-related advisory projects.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing Corporation Tax compliance for a portfolio of property clients.
- Working with property investment businesses, development groups, real estate funds and owner-managed businesses.
- Reviewing Corporation Tax computations and returns prepared by junior colleagues.
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and potential tax risks across the client portfolio.
- Advising on the tax implications of different property and investment structures, including companies and LLPs.
- Corporate restructuring and group reorganisations.
- Group tax planning.
- Advising on Corporate Interest Restriction.
- Withholding tax matters.
- Advising on corporate and property acquisitions and disposals.
- Supporting transaction-related tax projects and due diligence.
- Preparing and reviewing tax sections of due diligence reports.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact.
- Managing billing, budgets and WIP across the portfolio.
- Line managing junior members of the Corporate Tax team.
- Providing technical support, training, feedback and appraisals to junior colleagues.
- Contributing to the firm's wider Property sector group.
- Attending property networking events and becoming involved in business development.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have strong UK Corporate Tax experience gained within an accountancy practice or professional services environment and previous experience managing a portfolio that includes corporate groups. You’ll ideally be CTA qualified, although strong candidates with equivalent Corporate Tax experience will also be considered. Previous Property or Real Estate Tax experience would naturally be advantageous, particularly exposure to property investment or development businesses. You’ll be comfortable reviewing the work of junior colleagues, managing client relationships and taking ownership of assignments with limited supervision. Experience with AlphaTax would also be beneficial. Most importantly, you’ll have the technical ability and commercial awareness to move beyond simply delivering compliance and identify tax planning opportunities and potential issues for clients.
What's On Offer?
This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term specialism within one of the most active areas of Corporate Tax. You’ll gain exposure to a diverse property client base alongside increasingly sophisticated advisory work across transactions, restructuring, group planning, acquisitions and disposals.
The position offers:
- Hybrid and flexible working
- Specialist Property & Real Estate Tax exposure
- A genuine combination of compliance and advisory work
- Complex corporate groups and investment structures
- Transaction and due diligence exposure
- Direct client responsibility
- Management and development of junior staff
- Property sector networking and business development opportunities
- Strong technical development
- Clear opportunities for further career progression
