Clark Wood are currently working with a well‑established and highly regarded accountancy practice that is looking to recruit an Audit & Accounts Senior to join their growing team in North Cornwall. The successful candidate will play a key role within the Audit & Accounts team, working closely with managers and partners while taking responsibility for a varied portfolio of assignments. The role will involve:
- Preparing financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies
- Assisting with audit assignments
- Preparing tax computations and returns
- Supporting clients with VAT matters and general business queries
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries
- Supporting the development of junior members of the team
This role offers excellent exposure to both accounts and audit work, making it ideal for someone seeking a broad and varied position within the practice. The ideal candidate will be ACA, ACCA or AAT part‑qualified, or currently studying toward a professional qualification, and will have gained solid experience within a general practice environment. Strong technical skills, excellent communication ability, and experience using cloud‑based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and IRIS would be highly advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Preparing financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies
- Assisting with audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Preparing partnership and personal tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Liaising directly with clients and resolving queries
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of staff
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Assisting with a variety of general practice assignments
Skills
- ACA / ACCA / AAT part‑qualified or studying toward a professional qualification
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong accounts preparation and tax compliance experience
- Exposure to audit assignments would be advantageous
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
- Experience using IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud accounting software
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workloads and deadlines effectively
