Clark Wood are currently recruiting for an experienced Owner Managed Business (OMB) Tax Manager to join a highly respected independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers based in Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CTA qualified tax professional, or an ACA / ACCA qualified accountant with strong tax experience, looking to develop their career within a successful and growing tax team.

The firm has an excellent reputation across the South West and works with a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and growing companies, providing commercially focused tax advice and long-term support.

As an OMB Tax Manager, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients, providing a mixture of tax compliance, planning and advisory services.

Working closely with Partners, Accounts and Audit teams, you will play a key role in delivering proactive tax advice, identifying opportunities for clients and supporting the continued growth of the tax department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients and acting as a trusted tax adviser.
  • Reviewing corporation tax returns and personal tax returns for business owners and directors.

• Providing practical tax planning advice, including

  • Remuneration planning and profit extraction strategies.
  • Business structuring and reorganisations.
  • Incorporations and business growth planning.
  • Capital Gains Tax and Business Asset Disposal Relief advice.
  • Working closely with accounts and audit teams to deliver a joined-up client service.
  • Identifying additional advisory opportunities and supporting business development activities.
  • Managing client deadlines, workflow and budgets across your portfolio.
  • Reviewing work completed by junior tax professionals and supporting their development.
  • Assisting Partners with complex tax projects and client meetings.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • CTA qualification, or ACA / ACCA qualification with strong tax experience.
  • Previous experience working within an OMB tax role in a UK accountancy practice.
  • Experience managing a mixed portfolio of tax compliance and advisory clients.
  • Strong technical knowledge across corporate and personal tax.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • A commercial approach with the ability to provide practical advice to business owners.
