Accountancy Practice and Tax recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a leading independent firm of chartered accountants in the North East as they are looking to add a Personal Tax Manager to the team in their Bishop Auckland office.

You will work with a diverse array of clients and will be responsible for ensuring that all compliance work is completed accurately and efficiently. You will have responsibility for undertaking compliance work for the more complex clients within the portfolio. The majority of your day to day role will be focused on the review of tax returns prepared by other members of the team.

As a Personal Tax Manager you will form an integral part of the firm’s tax offering and will work closely with the Partners. You will have responsibility for overseeing Tax Seniors and Trainees within the team which will see you reviewing their work and providing support and guidance to them as necessary. There will also be advisory work involved in the role, with you providing guidance and tax planning services to clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, acting as the main point of contact.
  • Preparing and reviewing self-assessment and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and estates.
  • Overseeing and managing the Tax return process for all Personal Tax clients.
  • Working with a diverse array of clients and will be responsible for ensuring that all compliance work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Accountability for undertaking compliance work for the complex clients within the portfolio.
  • Dealing with HMRC enquiries and compliance checks.
  • Element of advisory work involved in the role, with you providing guidance and tax planning services to clients.
  • Providing support on planning projects and researching technical issues.
  • General management of the tax billing process including monthly WIP management.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ideally CTA Qualified although ATT Qualified or QBE will be considered equally.
  • Strong Personal Tax experience within a practice environment is essential.
