Clark Wood are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice who are looking to recruit an AAT Qualified Accountant to join their growing team in Altrincham.

The successful candidate will report directly to a Client Director and take responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of clients. The role will involve preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, completing self-assessment tax returns, preparing corporation tax computations and returns, and supporting clients with bookkeeping and VAT matters. You will also be responsible for monitoring deadlines, managing workflow, tracking billing targets, and ensuring all work is completed accurately and on time.

In addition, you will build and maintain strong client relationships, deal with day-to-day queries, and provide support and guidance to junior members of the team. The role offers a good level of client interaction and would suit someone who enjoys a hands-on position with responsibility and autonomy.

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified (or above) and will have at least five years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment. Experience preparing accounts and tax returns for a varied client base is essential, alongside strong communication skills and the confidence to advise clients on a range of accounting matters. Experience using software such as IRIS, Sage, Dext and Xero would be advantageous.

  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies

  • Tracking job progress and billing targets
  • Preparing bookkeeping and VAT returns
  • Dealing with client queries and providing advice
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations

Skills

  • AAT Qualified (or above)
  • Minimum of five years' experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong accounts preparation and tax compliance experience
  • Experience completing self-assessment tax returns
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Experience using IRIS, Sage, Dext and/or Xero
  • Full UK Driving Licence
