An established and growing professional services firm is seeking a Tax Senior / Assistant to join its expanding tax team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior tax professionals across a varied portfolio of compliance and advisory work, while also supporting more junior members of the team in their development. The successful individual will be involved in a broad range of personal and trust tax compliance matters, alongside exposure to wider advisory and transactional projects. The position would suit someone looking to continue developing their technical knowledge within a collaborative and client-focused environment.
Alongside compliance responsibilities, the role will involve assisting with advisory assignments relating to business restructures, incorporations, share-related matters, trusts, and private client planning work. The role offers excellent exposure to both compliance and advisory services, providing strong long-term development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation and review of personal tax returns.
- Preparation and review of capital gains tax filings.
- Assisting with trust tax compliance and related annual reporting requirements.
- Supporting partnership and trust registrations.
- Assisting with transaction-related documentation and statutory filings.
- Preparing tax computations and supporting calculations.
- Assisting with relief claims and client correspondence.
- Liaising directly with clients and HMRC regarding routine tax matters and queries.
- Supporting senior members of the tax team on advisory projects and transactional work.
- Assisting with the development and support of junior team members where required.
- Previous experience working within a tax-focused role in practice.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong numerical and administrative capabilities.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications and accountancy/tax software packages.
- Motivated to continue learning and developing professionally within a growing tax environment.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff would be advantageous.
- ATT qualified, part-qualified, or currently studying towards ATT qualification.
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a tax role in an accountancy practice environment.
