Clark Wood is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for an experienced Personal Tax Senior / Assistant Manager to join a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Newcastle. This role is ideal for a proactive individual seeking to develop their expertise in Personal Tax while working closely with knowledgeable Tax Partners and Managers.
About the Role
As a Personal Tax Senior, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, partnerships, landlords, and company directors. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services, supporting junior team members, and identifying tax planning opportunities to enhance client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax returns
- Prepare and review Self-Assessment tax returns, covering income from property, investments, employment, and sole trades
- Provide advice on capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and other personal tax matters
- Liaise with HMRC on compliance issues and tax enquiries
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive advice to clients
- Support junior staff by reviewing their work and assisting in their development
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance across the client base
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in personal tax, ideally within a UK accountancy practice
- ATT qualified or part-qualified, with support available to complete CTA
- Strong technical knowledge of Self-Assessment, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax
- Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proactive and commercially minded, with the ability to identify and act on tax planning opportunities
