Clark Wood is working with a well-established firm of accountants to recruit a Trusts Assistant Manager / Manager into their Private Client Tax team in Norwich. This role will suit an experienced trust and private client tax professional looking to take responsibility for a varied trust portfolio and work closely with Partners on both compliance and advisory matters. The firm acts for a broad range of medium and high-net-worth individuals, offering exposure to high-quality private client work within a collaborative tax team.
The position will involve managing the ongoing administration and tax compliance of trusts and estates, reviewing trust accounts and returns, and advising trustees on income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax matters. There will also be involvement in wider trust planning and advisory projects alongside the Partners. The firm are renowned for promoting within and can offer an excellent platform to progress your career and have a healthy hybrid working system in place.
Key responsibilities- Managing a portfolio of trusts, overseeing day-to-day administration and compliance
- Reviewing trust accounts and associated tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing income tax, CGT and IHT returns for trusts and estates
- Reviewing inheritance tax calculations and submissions
- Preparing TRS, FATCA and CRS filings
- Drafting trustee documentation and maintaining statutory records
- Acting as a point of contact for trustees and clients
- Supporting Partners on complex trust matters and advisory work
- Reviewing work prepared by junior team members where appropriate
- Managing WIP, fee quotes and billing
- Liaising with HMRC as required
- At least 3 years’ experience in trusts and private client tax within practice
- Experience preparing trust and personal tax returns and IHT accounts
- CTA and/or ACA / ACCA qualification
- STEP qualification is advantageous but not essential
- Strong technical knowledge across income tax, CGT and IHT
- Experience dealing with trust accounts and ongoing trust administration
