Public Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a leading UK accountancy & advisory group who are continuing to expand their Tax function in East London, and are now looking to recruit a Mixed Tax Compliance Manager. This firm supports the SME market with a full service offering including Audit, Accounts & Advisory, Tax, Payroll, Corporate Finance and Business Recovery. With a strong values-led culture and excellent internal support, the firm offers structured development, strong mentoring and genuine progression opportunities. The firm’s Tax team is well-established and continues to grow, working closely with Partners across Audit, Accounts and Advisory. This is a fantastic opportunity for a tax professional to take ownership of a varied compliance portfolio while supporting the development of junior staff.
Role Responsibilities
- Managing a mixed tax portfolio supported by Tax Seniors and Junior staff
- Reviewing corporation tax and LLP income tax computations prepared by audit/accounts teams
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, P11Ds, ATED returns, ERS filings and EMI scheme returns
- Ensuring workflow, deadlines, and quality standards are consistently met
- Acting as first point of contact for clients, providing compliance support and responding to queries
- Liaising with HMRC and handling enquiries as required
- Supporting company secretarial related work and project-based assignments (e.g. reorganisations / share schemes)
- Training, supervising and mentoring junior team members
- Supporting wider team management and assisting with WIP / billing and invoicing
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong experience in both personal and corporate tax
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio and delegate effectively
- Comfortable finalising work and liaising directly with clients
- CTA preferred, however ATT / ACA / ACCA or qualified by experience candidates will be considered
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, commercial approach
- Good IT skills (Word and Excel essential; tax software experience beneficial)
