My client is a highly regarded professional services firm with a national VAT advisory practice. They are looking to recruit an experienced VAT Manager to join their growing VAT advisory team. This is a varied and client-focused role, providing exposure to a broad range of clients including owner-managed businesses, private wealth clients, mid to large corporates, charities, and not-for-profit organisations.

The Role
- Advise clients on all aspects of VAT, including HMRC dispute resolution, transaction and supply chain treatment, and complex liability matters
- Provide client service through face-to-face meetings, virtual sessions, and clear written communication
- Maintain high technical standards with a commercial and practical approach
- Manage and support the development of the VAT team nationally
- Contribute to national practice groups, providing sector-specific VAT input and supporting business development initiatives
- Review and sign off complex VAT returns prepared for clients
The Team
You will join a national VAT advisory team, working with clients across the UK. The team is diverse and collaborative, encouraging sector specialisation while maintaining cross-disciplinary technical expertise. You will work closely with accounting, outsourcing, audit, and private wealth teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
The Ideal Candidate
- ACA, CTA, or equivalent qualified with strong VAT experience across multiple sectors
- Excellent understanding of UK VAT principles, including domestic and cross-border transactions
- Interest and expertise in land and property VAT is advantageous
- Commercial and practical outlook, with the ability to spot advisory opportunities
- Strong client handling and communication skills; able to explain complex VAT matters to non-specialists
- Experience managing client engagements from scoping through delivery and billing
- Motivation to contribute to business development, marketing initiatives, seminars, and thought leadership
