Clark Wood is a specialist Recruitment Consultancy operating throughout the United Kingdom within the Public Practice Accountancy & Tax sectors. Our core client base consists of Accountancy Practices ranging from Big 4, Top 10 & MidâTier firms through to independent regional firms and sole traders.
This firm supports the SME market with a full service offering including Audit, Accounts & Advisory, Tax, Payroll, Corporate Finance and Business Recovery. This role is predominantly advisoryâfocused (circa 80%), offering exposure to a wide range of corporate and OMB clients and complex planning assignments. The successful candidate will work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, delivering bespoke advice from initial engagement through to implementation.
Role Responsibilities- Supporting Partners with delivery of advisory engagements and managing the dayâtoâday execution of client work
- Advising on a wide range of transactions including reconstructions, demergers, share repurchases and related reliefs
- Providing advice across relevant taxes including Corporation Tax, Income Tax, CGT, VAT and Stamp Taxes/SDLT
- Preparing transaction documentation support including HMRC clearance letters and tax valuations where required
- Managing full scope tax due diligence projects and liaising with wider tax specialists (CT, PAYE, VAT etc.)
- Advising on employee share incentives (including EMI schemes) and preparing valuation reports for HMRC submission
- Advising on reliefs such as EIS/SEIS including preparation of advance assurance submissions
- Producing and reviewing written advisory reports, ensuring technical accuracy and clear clientâfriendly delivery
- Supporting compliance work where required (review of complex CT returns including groups / larger clients)
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the team and supporting wider departmental growth
- CTA qualified (or close to qualification) is strongly preferred
- ACA/ACCA and/or ATT also beneficial
- Strong postâqualified experience in Corporate Tax advisory
- Comfortable managing assignments through to completion and liaising directly with clients/Partners
- Strong written communication skills with experience producing advisory reports
- Excellent IT skills (Word/Excel; advanced Excel beneficial)
- Commercially aware, organised and proactive with the ability to manage deadlines and budgets
- Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues
