Clark Wood is delighted to be working with a respected and growing independent accountancy practice in Sutton that is looking to appoint an experienced Accounts & Personal Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional seeking a varied role with a balanced mix of accounts and personal tax work. The firm offers a supportive working environment, a strong client base, and flexible hybrid working arrangements.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses, directors, landlords, sole traders, and high-net-worth individuals, taking responsibility for both compliance and advisory matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing and reviewing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all self-assessment returns are completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Providing advice on capital gains tax, director remuneration planning, property taxation, and other personal tax matters.
  • Reviewing P11Ds and liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for small and micro entities under FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105.
  • Reviewing tax computations for companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
  • Completing company secretarial duties and ensuring ongoing compliance requirements are met.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and delivering a high level of service.
  • Managing workflow, deadlines, WIP, budgets, and billing across your portfolio.
Candidate Profile
  • ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Proven experience managing both accounts and personal tax assignments within a UK accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, self‑assessment tax, CGT, P11Ds, and director/shareholder taxation.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience using software such as Iris, Xero, FreeAgent, and Bright Workpapers.
