A leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Senior to join its growing Business Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded, long-established accountancy practice that has remained independent and continued to grow organically. The firm provides a full range of accountancy, tax, VAT, corporate finance and business advisory services to clients across Essex, North East London and beyond. The client base is extremely varied, with a particular focus on owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs, alongside UK subsidiaries of larger international groups. The Role As an Accounts Senior, you will work with a varied portfolio of clients across a broad range of sectors and entity types. The position offers plenty of responsibility, including accounts preparation, management accounts, VAT and bookkeeping alongside reviewing work, supporting junior team members and working closely with Managers and Partners. Responsibilities will include: Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, charities and groups Preparing and reviewing management accounts Preparing and reviewing VAT returns and bookkeeping assignments Producing high-quality final accounts files and clearing review points Posting adjustments and resolving outstanding client queries Supporting the firm's outsourced accounts function, including reviewing work and dealing with queries Supervising junior members of the team and reviewing the quality of their work Providing feedback and supporting the development of junior colleagues Keeping Managers and Partners updated on client matters and issues identified Liaising with the Tax team regarding relevant client queries Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for additional services Ensuring assignments are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets The CandidateThe firm is ideally looking for someone who is AAT qualified or qualified by experience (QBE), although relevant practical experience will be the most important consideration. You should have: Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice Strong statutory accounts preparation experience Experience working with limited companies and ideally a broader range of entities Exposure to VAT, bookkeeping and/or management accounts Confidence managing deadlines and multiple client assignments Strong communication and organisational skills Good attention to detail Confidence using accountancy software and IT systems Previous experience reviewing work or supporting junior members of staff would be beneficial. A UK driving licence would also be useful due to occasional visits to client premises, although this is not essential. Both full-time and part-time candidates can be considered.
