An established and growing accountancy practice in Lydney is looking to recruit an Accounts Semi-Senior to strengthen its accounts team. This role would suit a candidate with solid practice experience and strong hands-on experience using Sage and Xero, who is keen to continue developing technically while gaining greater responsibility and client exposure. You will work with a varied portfolio of SMEs, sole traders and limited companies, delivering high-quality compliance services and supporting senior staff on more complex work.

Main Duties

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Production of management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations and basic tax returns
  • VAT return preparation and review
  • Bookkeeping using cloud accounting software – Sage and Xero (essential)
  • Maintaining accurate working papers and meeting compliance deadlines
  • Dealing directly with client queries via email, phone and meetings
  • Assisting with mentoring or reviewing work of junior staff where appropriate
  • Supporting managers and partners with ad-hoc assignments

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage and Xero is essential
  • AAT qualified or studying ACA / ACCA (or qualified by experience)
  • Confident preparing accounts with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
