Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with five operating divisions; Construction, Housing, Fit Out, Refurbishment and Maintenance. We employ over 250 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland. Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Sustainability Adviser to our team. We are ideally seeking a candidate with an Environmental Degree and a good understanding of Carbon Reporting. This role would be well suited to a recent graduate with a sustainability-related qualification, though we are also open to conversations with more experienced candidates.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Environmental Management System to ensure it continues to meet the requirements of ISO14001.
- Work with the Group HSEQ Manager to implement the Company strategy to enhance our carbon reporting to include Scope 3.
- Implement the Company’s 3-year carbon reduction plan, including collecting and analysing sustainability-related data, such as energy usage, carbon footprint, waste management, and supply chain sustainability.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to understand their current carbon reporting knowledge and work with them to enhance their knowledge to comply with our requirements.
- Develop and maintain sustainability performance dashboards and reports.
- Identify trends and opportunities for improvement in environmental impact reduction.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices, particularly in relation to SECR and ESOS.
- Coordinate improvements within our ESG Strategy.
- Support the implementation of sustainability strategies and initiatives across the business.
- Assist Site Management with advance planning regarding Environmental issues and Carbon Reporting.
- Provide practical advice and assistance in the development, review and maintenance of Construction Phase Plans which include environmental requirements.
- Communicate correct interpretation of Company Policies, Codes of Practice and environmental requirements to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Assist in the training of Staff, Operatives and Sub-Contractors at all levels on environmental matters.
Candidate
- Holds or is working towards an Environmental Degree and ideally has knowledge of Carbon Reporting.
- Construction knowledge and how it applies to the environment would be beneficial.
- IT Literate (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- An eye for detail.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload and work to deadlines.
- Self-motivated individual.
- Can maintain confidentiality.

This is a full time, permanent position and will be based at our head office in Paisley although due to the nature of the role travel will be required.
