Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Small Works, Retail, Housing and Maintenance. We employ over 250 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland. We are now looking to recruit a Quality Control Advisor to join the organisation to work within the HSEQ Department.
The role would require someone with construction or Quality Control experience in construction who fully understands the requirements of project specifications and how they are transferred into the inspection and testing of works during the build process. We believe this is an ideal role for Site Manager / Supervisors looking to change direction, Construction QC specialists or those currently carrying out Clerk of Works type roles. The role will require visits to all projects / offices to ensure that the QC/IMS process is effectively implemented.
Role & Responsibilities
- Review the QC process and ensure that no gaps are found and that all documents link across the main construction phase processes;
- Engage with the supply chain, starting with high risk S/C, to explain and upskill them to understand our process;
- Engage with the Project teams to ensure that they understand their roles within the QC process;
- Deliver training to internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our requirements are fully understood;
- Review IT Processes with the IT Working Group to develop solutions to simplify the QC processes;
- Develop a specific QC knowledge on specific quality issues and advise Bid Teams and Project Teams on how to avoid issues;
- Liaise with the CM at CPP development to ensure that the ITP Register is developed;
- Liaise between the CM/QS to ensure that QC is part of package discussions and the project requirements are clear to the S/C at order;
- Attend Pre-start meetings for selected high risk packages;
- Assist the Project teams to review S/C ITPs and assist where required S/C to improve their offering;
- Ensure that a programme of QC inspections are agreed between the Project Team and S/C and monitor the implementation of this;
- Review submitted QC Inspections to ensure that they are compliant with our requirements;
- Review that the QC Records are transferred to PIM at regular intervals by the Project Team / Admin and ensure at project completion that all records are held on the system;
- Ensure that the snagging process is in place and being recorded by the project team;
- Audit and report on the QC process.
Working with the HSEQ Manager to develop and maintain the company integrated management system.
Candidate
- Outgoing, team player who is confident working with multiple disciplines to drive improvements;
- Degree qualified preferably in quality management subjects or have a proven track record in construction management;
- Experience of working with ISO9001, 14001 & 45001;
- Driving Licence and ability to travel, when required;
- Have a clear desire to drive Quality improvements;
- IT Literate (Microsoft packages including Visio);
- Confident in developing and delivering training;
- Experience within the construction industry is essential.
