We are looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to join our team in Cambridge and help craft intuitive and engaging digital experiences. You’ll be responsible for creating intuitive, responsive, seamless, and enjoyable experiences for our users across various digital products. You’ll be collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand user needs, business requirements, and translate them into validated innovative design solutions that enhance the overall user experience. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • 5+ years of experience in UX Design
  • Bachelors in a design or related field
  • Experience in design tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and InVision
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Experience working with design systems and pattern libraries

It would be great if you also had . . .

  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in design

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Design new features and enhancements for multiple or complex user interfaces, ensuring they are consistent, coherent, and align with user experience principles.
  • Conduct user research to understand and identify user needs and pain points, providing a foundation for design decisions.
  • Create UX artifacts such as personas, journey maps, and interactive prototypes.
  • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback, applying insights gained to improve the effectiveness of designs.
  • Convey design, interactions, and experience requirements to the product development team.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate design implementation and that business and user requirements have been met.
  • Work effectively with product managers, developers, UX researchers, and other designers to deliver cohesive and impactful design solutions, maintaining continuous, open communication to foster independent action and collaborative innovation.
  • Actively participate in the design team sharing your work, providing and receiving constructive feedback, fostering skill development and a culture of learning within the design team.
  • Create designs and prototypes that adhere to accessibility guidelines, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Conduct research to understand the needs of users with disabilities, involving user interviews, surveys, and usability testing with assistive technologies.
  • Ensure and check that developers are using the correct HTML elements for their intended purposes; knowledge of Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) roles and attributes to enhance the accessibility of components is desired.
  • Stay ahead of UX trends and techniques, applying this knowledge proactively to influence product direction and recommend actionable solutions for team and community enhancement.
  • Engage in persuasive communication with stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment and inspiring cross-functional teams to deliver user-centric solutions.

About the Team

You’ll be reporting to our Manager User Experience Design, Academia & Government. You’ll be part of a Global team based in different locations.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, permanent contract. Hybrid model (2-3 days per week working from our Cambridge Office). This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours.
