Kick-start your career in Commercial Management with a one-year placement at Latimer, by Clarion Housing Group. As part of our Commercial Team, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of real development projects while learning how commercial decisions shape the success of our schemes. This structured placement programme is designed to help you grow into a confident and capable commercial professional, giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills in areas such as commercial management, procurement and risk management while working alongside experienced industry specialists.
Throughout the year, you’ll be supported by a structured development programme and competency framework, helping you build both your technical knowledge and professional skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn and network with our current cohort of Latimer graduates, developing skills in areas such as leadership, strategic thinking and change management. By the end of the placement, you’ll have a strong understanding of how Commercial teams operate within the Development process, gain valuable industry experience to take back into your studies, and if you’re studying a cognate degree; experience that can contribute towards your Assessment of Professional Competence.
During your placement, you will work closely with experienced commercial professionals who will support you in developing the practical skills needed to succeed in a commercial role. As you progress through the programme, you will collaborate with colleagues across the Development team, building your confidence as a key operational support within the commercial function while gaining exposure to procurement, risk management, contractual matters, and cost monitoring across live projects.
You will help monitor the performance of suppliers and joint venture partners against contractual requirements, identifying trends or potential issues and sharing insights with the Commercial Director and the wider Development team. Alongside this, you will contribute to a positive and collaborative working culture by building strong internal relationships and promoting teamwork and mutual respect in your day-to-day interactions, while also providing support to the Cost Planning and Project Management teams, as well as other areas of the Development function when required.
About You
You are currently studying for a Quantity Surveying degree and are on track to achieve a minimum 2:1. You are a motivated and proactive individual with a strong academic record and a genuine desire to learn and develop your skills within a commercial environment. As an ambitious team player, you are comfortable using your initiative and contributing ideas, bringing enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a passion for making a difference. In doing so, you will play an active role within the Development team, supporting the delivery of new homes and contributing to the wider success of Clarion’s ambitious development programme.

Successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview, on Wednesday 27th May 2026, which will be held at our head office in London. The placement is set to begin on the 7th September 2026, giving you the opportunity to start gaining hands-on experience and developing your skills as part of the team.
