A vacancy has arisen within Clarion Events for the role of Sales Executive within the Motoring Portfolio.

Motoring Portfolio:

  • The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show – the UK's biggest and best classic car show and the world's largest vehicle club event.
  • The Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show – the UK's biggest "season opener" show covering the restoration and maintenance of classic cars.
  • Race Retro – the UK's only event providing a pre‑season meeting place for the motorsport, racing and enthusiast community.

These events are high‑profile market leaders; collectively they cover over 150,000 Sqm of gross floor space, have circa 3,300 cars and vehicles on display, 1,300 exhibitors, attract over 110,000 visitors and host 380 vehicle clubs.

Responsibilities:

  • Telephone sales calls to existing and potential exhibitors to meet and surpass sales revenue targets and budget.
  • Sourcing and prospecting relevant and show‑enhancing new business across the portfolio.
  • Writing and sending effective sales proposals.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, partners and the rest of the show team.
  • Keeping abreast of market developments and identifying and researching new growth areas for sales.
  • Visiting clients and other team members when necessary or appropriate.
  • Visiting relevant UK‑based exhibitions and occasional international events to source new business and maintain existing business relationships.
  • Maintaining key customer‑care objectives.
  • Handling enquiries on the telephone, by email and social media as appropriate.
  • Ensuring that all sales administration is completed to a high and accurate standard and in a timely manner using applications including but not limited to Salesforce, Floor Plan Live and Showguide.
  • Acting as a support to all team functions including sales, marketing, operations and finance.
  • Resolving exhibitor conflicts and objection handling both in the office and on‑site.
  • Working on site during the build‑up, open period and breakdown.
  • Collating and producing sales plans and reports as required.
  • At all times representing Clarion Events in a professional manner.

At the heart of this role is the sales function. Its success will be determined by the sourcing and contracting of new business and by the management of incremental growth from existing business.

Qualifications:

  • Previous knowledge and experience of selling events and/or media.
  • Understanding of the sales process.
  • Proven experience of delivering strong sales results.
  • Knowledge and experience of building customer value and goodwill.
  • Demonstrates effective active listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility amongst our customer base.
  • Demonstrates initiative; the ability to take ownership of tasks and problem‑solve at speed.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Works calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to negotiate and build rapport effectively.
