The Opportunity: This is an excellent opportunity to work in Africa's Power Sector. The EnergyNet team is a close-knit group of around 20 people who are passionate about delivering in a supportive, collaborative environment. The candidate will work closely with the Group Director and Portfolio Manager to conceptualise, produce and deliver EnergyNet’s portfolio of events.

About EnergyNet EnergyNet is a multi award-winning producer of investment conferences and news for Africa’s energy sector. It is best known for the Africa Energy Forum, which attracts Ministers of Energy and thousands of participants. EnergyNet also runs region-specific investment meetings focused on power generation in emerging markets. Recent locations include Cape Town, Nairobi, Lisbon, Brussels, Washington, Togo, Accra and Lusaka.

About YES! EnergyNet launched YES! to empower youth in Africa to succeed in the sector with access to knowledge and connections. In 2025 EnergyNet hosted the largest gathering of youth in the energy sector globally, with 6,000 registrations in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a high-quality portfolio of events focused on the development of Africa’s energy sector.
  • Work with the team on EnergyNet’s flagship event, the Africa Energy Forum.
  • Lead production of in-country events.
  • Guide the project team (sales, marketing, delegate sales) and ensure overall event success.
  • Conduct in-depth market and industry research to develop topical leading event agendas.
  • Generate new topic ideas aligned with global and regional trends and direct conference content.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, shareholders, committee members, advisors, associations and senior government representatives, including Ministers.
  • Collaborate with the Group Director and Portfolio Manager to shape strategy and future direction of events.
  • Conceptualise long-term strategy for events; manage relationships with long-term supporters and new clients, speakers and media partners.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sponsorship teams to promote events and meet commercial targets.
  • Write promotional copy for event programmes and articles/interviews for ENN to promote events.
  • Manage event budgets with the Portfolio Manager.
  • Ensure exceptional on-site delivery, including managing speakers, delegates and logistics.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours

  • Proven experience as a successful conference producer or in a role with strong transferable skills.
  • A track record of leading and owning a portfolio of events with content development and commercial growth.
  • Strong work ethic, loyalty and commitment to the role; able to work as part of a team and lead project teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure delivering large-scale events (300+ speakers, 100+ sponsors).
  • French speaking preferred but not essential.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills; strategic thinking and forward planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge or interest in Africa’s energy sector.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to develop advisory boards of senior industry buyers and drive sales and programme value.
  • Copywriting ability to clearly communicate a value proposition across the team.
  • Experience in developing new topics and launching profitable events.
  • Proactive, results-driven and highly motivated.
