We are looking for an experienced Assistant Marketing Manager, who is Mandarin-speaking, to join the Design China project team, working closely on Design Shanghai, one of Asia's leading international design events. This is a maternity cover role, ideal for a candidate with strong international marketing experience, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of exhibitions, design, or cultural events. You will manage one full-time team member and 2 - 3 interns and play a key role in driving marketing activities in the lead-up to the show.
Key Responsibilities- International PR & Media: Lead overseas PR and media relations for the exhibition. Coordinate closely with appointed PR agencies. Build, maintain, and grow relationships with international media partners.
- Sales Team Support: Support the UK sales team with marketing materials and exhibitor promotion initiatives. Assist with exhibitor communications and promotional planning.
- Exhibitor Marketing & Data Management: Manage exhibitor promotion campaigns, including email/newsletter planning and execution. Support sales teams in collecting and organising exhibitor data. Maintain and develop marketing databases and reporting.
- Social Media Management: Oversee daily operations across all social media platforms. Plan content calendars and ensure consistent brand tone and messaging.
- Branding & Creative Direction: Manage and implement annual brand key visuals (KV). Ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and channels.
- Website & Digital Marketing: Manage website updates, maintenance, and SEO optimisation. Ensure content accuracy and timely updates across all digital platforms.
- Supplier & Cross-Regional Coordination: Liaise with UK-based marketing suppliers and partners. Support communication and coordination between UK and China teams.
- Team & Project Management: Line-manage one full-time team member and 2 - 3 interns. Support campaign planning, timelines, and cross-team coordination. Provide onsite marketing support during the exhibition period.
- Extensive experience in marketing, ideally within exhibitions, events, design, culture, or international brands.
- Strong experience working with PR agencies and international media partners.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and well-structured content in both English and Chinese (e.g. press materials, emails/newsletters, website copy, and social media content).
- Strong design sensibility: candidates with hands-on design capability or experience working closely with designers and creative assets will be highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members and interns.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across international teams.
