The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Editor to join EnergyNet/ENN’s portfolio. The successful candidate will lead the editorial direction and daily delivery of the Energy News Network, working closely with the Marketing Director to establish it as a trusted, independent voice across Africa’s energy sector. They will drive high-quality content that elevates industry perspectives, supports flagship summits, and grows engagement across digital channels.

EnergyNet is an award-winning producer of investment conferences and digital dialogues focused on Africa and Latin America’s energy sectors. Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, EnergyNet brings together governments, investors, developers, and utilities to drive investment, policy dialogue, and project delivery across the energy value chain. EnergyNet owns and operates the Energy News Network (ENN), its independent editorial platform. ENN provides year-round news, analysis, and interviews that extend the impact of EnergyNet’s summits beyond the event stages supporting speakers, partners, and sponsors while keeping industry conversations active before, during, and after each event.
The Candidate
Attitude, credibility, ambition - The successful candidate will be a commercially aware editorial leader with a strong instinct for storytelling and a clear interest in Africa’s energy transition. They will combine journalistic integrity with strategic thinking, understanding how content, events, and digital platforms work together to engage decision-makers and support commercial outcomes. This is a fast‑paced role that demands ownership, resilience, and a starter‑finisher mindset, with the ambition to build and grow a credible, influential industry media platform. The role also requires four days to be worked in the office with one day from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning and delivering the editorial calendar across priority energy themes, aligned with industry developments and flagship summits.
- Leading the planning and delivery of high‑quality editorial content including interviews, analysis, reports, and post‑event coverage.
- Building and managing editorial partnerships with industry leaders, analysts, and media partners to ensure credible, consistent content delivery.
- Coordinating senior‑level interviews and thought leadership with policymakers, executives, and speakers.
- Working closely with Marketing and Campaign teams to amplify summit visibility through strategic content across digital channels.
- Overseeing newsletters, podcasts, webinars, and sponsored content in line with commercial and editorial objectives.
- Ensuring editorial standards, tone, and quality across all outputs, from commissioning through to publication.
- Assisting with the PR activity relating to the conference portfolio, researching material for press releases, building relationships with relevant press and partners.
- Working with key media & association partners to secure valuable external publications.
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
- Established editorial experience within journalism, energy, infrastructure, or policy‑driven media, with a proven track record of delivering credible, independent content for senior decision‑makers.
- Energy sector experience is desirable, with a strong understanding of Africa’s energy landscape (or the demonstrated ability to rapidly build deep subject‑matter expertise).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience producing interviews, analysis, reports, and event‑aligned coverage to a high editorial standard.
- Confident senior‑level stakeholder partnership management, comfortable working with ministers, CEOs, investors, analysts, and policymakers, while coordinating contributors, partners, and internal teams.
- Strong digital capability across newsletters, podcasts, webinars, and CMS platforms for publishing, with the ability to align editorial output with marketing, events, and commercial objectives.
- Resilient, motivated and a starter/finisher, with keen eye for detail are essential.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
