A global, private equity-backed digital and events organisation, currently undergoing an exciting phase of digital innovation and expansion, is seeking a Defence Journalist to play a key role in the continued growth of its defence-focused digital portfolio. This role sits within a rapidly expanding Defence Digital division, supporting a globally recognised defence brand and its flagship international events. You will help shape a trusted editorial platform by delivering high-quality, original journalism that informs and engages a senior B2B defence audience.
In this position, you will contribute authoritative news, features, interviews, and analysis across a growing digital ecosystem. Working closely with editors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, you will help strengthen editorial credibility, drive audience engagement, and support the long-term digital growth strategy. You will also play an active role in live event coverage and the development of new content formats as the platform evolves.
Responsibilities- Produce concise, accurate, and engaging news articles, features, and analysis focused on global defence industry developments.
- Identify and pursue strong news angles across defence technology, platforms, geopolitics, and procurement.
- Secure and conduct interviews with senior industry figures, government officials, military personnel, and subject-matter experts.
- Research, write, and curate content for a high-performing monthly defence industry newsletter.
- Contribute ideas to the editorial calendar and content strategy across web, app, and digital channels.
- Support live reporting from major international defence events, delivering timely, customer-focused coverage.
- Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate on new content formats including video, podcasts, and multimedia storytelling.
- Represent the brand professionally at events, webinars, and industry forums.
- Proven experience as a journalist or reporter, ideally within a B2B or specialist media environment.
- Strong ability to communicate complex or technical defence topics clearly and credibly.
- Excellent news sense and a commitment to accuracy and editorial ethics.
- Experience interviewing senior stakeholders and building trusted industry relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
