We are exclusively representing a globally recognised manufacturer of material handling solutions focused on conveyor systems in manufacturing environments for automotive, aerospace and heavy industry. The business is renowned for its engineering quality and the bespoke nature of its systems, resulting in them being the number 1 choice for the manufacturing sites worldwide.

Due to an upcoming retirement, the position will take over the complete European operations of the business. The business has been trading successfully for decades, but would benefit from a fresh perspective and a proven background in driving top and bottom line growth. The position would involve a large amount of strategic autonomy, yet having to align this with corporate objectives managed overseas, so having experience within a corporate and ideally matrix environment would be beneficial.

The business has been automotive-centric for many years, so having an understanding and background in automotive manufacturing would be required. The task will also involve the Managing Director scouting out new revenue channels for the business, away from the automotive environment, too.

A summary of the required skillset is below:

  • Proven background in creating and executing a strategic plan to deliver profitable growth
  • Prior experience as a managing director/senior commercial and project delivery position is required
  • Material handling experience would be an advantage, but is not essential
  • Automotive manufacturing industry experience is essential, and knowledge of the automotive OEM environment or Tier 1 suppliers is key
  • Background in breaking new ground in new markets/territories etc to drive top and bottom line growth
  • A project-based business background is essential
  • Proven experience delivering a commercial turnaround program is required
  • Hands-on approach and nature to being actively involved with client relations, project oversight and sales activities
  • P&L responsibility
