Our client, a national manufacturing company, are currently recruiting an organised, professional, and efficient Health, Safety & Compliance Advisor to join their team and play a key part in maintaining a safe, compliant and well‑organised working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Health & Safety knowledge, audit experience and a passion for driving continual improvement.

You’ll work closely with the Associate Director of HR, Compliance & Safety and the Compliance Specialist, supporting day‑to‑day H&S management and wider compliance activities across the business.

The role offers a varied, hands‑on position with visibility across the entire business, giving the successful candidate the chance to influence and improve systems, processes and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
  • Coordinate and continually improve the company’s Health & Safety management system.
  • Carry out workplace inspections and internal audits.
  • Maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Provide Health & Safety advice and practical support to managers.
  • Support contractor management and Permit to Work processes.
  • Maintain fire safety arrangements, including Fire Marshal and First Aider coordination and routine checks.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure all records remain up to date.
  • Compliance & Quality
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 and BRCGS Storage & Distribution standards.
  • Assist with internal audits and certification activities.
  • Maintain the controlled documentation log.
  • Support supplier and customer compliance activities.
  • Monitor legislative changes and communicate relevant updates.
  • Assist with customer enquiries, including SAQs and specification requests.
  • Support implementation of packaging regulations.
  • Monitor customer compliance on CL200, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Training & Communication
  • Deliver Health & Safety inductions for new starters.
  • Deliver Health & Safety training across the business.
  • Support delivery of compliance‑related training.
  • Promote positive Health & Safety behaviours and culture.
  • Provide practical guidance to managers and employees.
  • Administration
  • Maintain compliance and Health & Safety records.
  • Support with facilities‑related documentation and record‑keeping.
  • Update policies and procedures as required.
  • Maintain Safety Culture systems and inspection schedules.
  • Produce monthly compliance reports.
  • Monitor and report on customer compliance using CL200.

The ideal candidate will bring proven audit‑facing experience and a solid understanding of ISO 9001 and BRCGS Storage & Distribution standards, alongside strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and a recognised qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH.

Experience within food safety, quality or supply chain environments, with a strong grasp of food industry regulations would be advantageous together with exceptional problem‑solving skills, effective time management and meticulous attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to build, analyse, interpret and report on data.

Competence with Microsoft Office, CRM systems and Sage 200 is beneficial, and you must be comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.
