They are part of the welcome, atmosphere and identity of each hotel. They are seen by hundreds of thousands of guests and followers, photographed and shared around the world, and play an important part in both the guest experience and the commercial success of our hotel partners.

As Senior Floral Designer, you will work closely with our Creative Director, Contracts and an experienced, settled team to produce and install exceptional weekly flowers, seasonal displays and large-scale Christmas schemes. This is demanding, physical work. It involves early starts, overnight installations, weekends and occasional last-minute changes. But it is also highly rewarding: the chance to work with extraordinary flowers, create at significant scale and see your work take its place inside some of the world’s best-known hotels.

The role

Working under the creative direction of the Contracts, Creative Director you will help translate agreed concepts into beautifully executed floral displays and installations. You will take a senior, hands-on role in production and installation, helping to organise work on site, supporting other florists and ensuring that every display is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. The role combines skilled floristry with practical problem-solving. On any given shift, you might be creating a major lobby arrangement, installing flowers throughout a hotel, refreshing weekly displays, preparing elements of a Christmas scheme, loading a van or responding calmly to an unexpected operational change.

Key responsibilities

  • Create exceptional floral designs in accordance with agreed concepts and briefs.
  • Produce large-scale arrangements and installations for hotel public areas, restaurants, suites and other guest spaces.
  • Help lead installations on site, allocating practical tasks and supporting florists and operational colleagues.
  • Interpret the Creative Director’s vision accurately while bringing strong technical knowledge and design judgement to its execution.
  • Condition, prepare and care for flowers and foliage to achieve the best possible quality and longevity.
  • Prepare vases, mechanics, structures, materials and equipment.
  • Install, maintain, refresh and remove floral displays.

  • Maintain immaculate standards when working in guest-facing and back-of-house hotel environments.
  • Load and unload vehicles and safely transport flowers, equipment and installation materials.
  • Drive company vehicles between our premises, suppliers and client locations.
  • Leave every workspace, vehicle and client area clean, organised and ready for use.
  • Represent Burjen, Claridge’s Flowers and our hotel partners professionally at all times.
  • Help develop less-experienced colleagues through practical support, encouragement and example.
  • Contribute wherever needed to help the team complete the work successfully.

What we are looking for

You will be an accomplished floral designer with substantial practical experience of producing high-quality work in a professional floristry environment. Hotel-contract or large-scale installation experience would be particularly valuable, although we are also interested in candidates from strong events, weddings, retail or studio backgrounds who are ready to move into this area of floristry.

You will need:

  • Advanced practical floristry skills and a strong natural eye for proportion, colour, scale and detail.
  • Experience of producing large, technically sound floral arrangements.
  • Excellent knowledge of flowers, foliage, seasonality, conditioning and flower care.
  • The ability to follow an established creative direction accurately and consistently.
  • Enough experience and confidence to take a senior role during production and installation.
  • The ability to work quickly without allowing standards to fall.
  • Calmness and sound judgement when plans change or time is tight.
  • Excellent reliability, punctuality and personal organisation.
  • A collaborative approach and genuine enjoyment of working as part of a close team.
  • Professional communication and behaviour in luxury, guest-facing environments.
  • The physical capability to undertake demanding floristry and installation work, including lifting, carrying and working on your feet.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends and bank holidays as required.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential. You must be a confident and competent driver and legally able to drive the company vehicles required for the role, including vans. Applications from candidates who are unable to drive will not be considered.

The working pattern

Our hotel contracts operate throughout the week, and much of the work must be completed while guest areas are quiet – sometimes overnight, often early morning. Your shifts will therefore include a mixture of daytime and antisocial hours, including early mornings, late nights, overnight work, weekends and bank holidays. Christmas is one of our busiest and most important periods. Rotas are planned wherever possible, but flexibility is an essential part of the role. We want candidates to understand this clearly before applying: the hours can be challenging, but they allow us to create remarkable work in remarkable places.

Why join us?

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on one of the most prestigious weekly flower contracts in the industry.
  • Create large-scale work that is experienced by guests from around the world.
  • Contribute to high-profile Christmas and seasonal installations.
  • Work with exceptional flowers, materials and hotel environments.
  • Learn from an experienced Creative Director and highly capable Contracts team.
  • Develop your technical, installation and luxury-hospitality experience.
  • Become part of a business that recognises floristry as both a creative discipline and an essential part of the customer experience.
